One month after Atakpamé, located to 161.4 Km from Lomé, the Togolese capital,Friends of the Earth-Togo organized; to Sokodé, (340.6 km from Lomé), September 1st, 2022, at the National Weaving Center, a forum on renewable energies and just energy transition . This’is a forum that aims to’ inform the organizations of society; (CSO) and journalists on renewable energies, in connection with the just energy transition, and to orient the direction of the debate on the climate. More specifically, it was a question of equipping the participants on renewable energies and the just energy transition, to stimulate more debates by journalists and CSOs on the topic of energy. the same name, and to strengthen the collaboration of the said actors on energy issues. In order to build the capacity of key players in ;sent to; this forum and shed light on the two themes, three communications were do, at know: Communication 1 : Role and actions of the Togolese Agency for Rural Electrification and Renewable Energies (AT2ER) in promoting just energy transition and the management of social and environmental rights, by Mr Samah Bawong TCHODOU Communication 2 : Private sector contribution to the promotion of the just energy transition: inventory, challenges and perspectives, by M. Dodji AGBEZO, Ing.-expert in renewable energies and energy efficiency energetic Communication 3 : What plea for a just energy transition in Togo? by M. Kokou Elorm AMEGADZE, Environmental lawyer, Acting Executive Director of Friends of the Earth-Togo. Participants from ;gions Centrale, Kara and Savanes saluted; the initiative Friends of the Earth-Togo for the organization of the said forum and especially appreciated themes developed by experts. In the interview granted to Agence Togolaise de Presse (ATOP), the acting executive director of Friends of the Earth-Togo, AMEGADZE Kokou Elorm said that: “ ;the just energy transition implies a change in energy policy while contributing to better efficiency energetic. He pointed out that the main issues are: protecting the climate and health, promoting energy independence, limiting geopolitical tensions linked to energy, reduce overall energy consumption, decentralize energy production, abandon fossil fuels for ecological solutions. It is important to look into the issue of energy with a view to finding appropriate solutions for an energy transition that is ecologically sustainable and socially responsible.
